We manage 10 community centres across Craigavon offering a variety of activities and something for everyone.

Things you can get involved in include:

  • clubs for children including pre-school groups and youth clubs
  • dance classes and drama clubs
  • clubs to get you fit and healthy including exercise and fitness clubs, slimming clubs and a variety of sports clubs
  • clubs for the over 60s
  • clubs and classes for a variety of hobbies including art classes and drama groups
  • and much more!

You can also hire out the community centres for parties, one-off events and regular events for personal use or for your club or association.

A new state of the art centre, Brownlow Community Hub, opened in September 2011.  In addition to the range of activities and  rooms for hire the facility will also offer a  full time pre-school playgroup,  wi-fi, and hotdesking facilities for community organisations.

ASHGROVE COMMUNITY CENTRE

Ashgrove is a thriving Community Centre situated at 156 Garvaghy Road, just across the road from Mayfair Business Centre. We help service the needs of the surrounding community.

Opening Hours

The Centre’s opening hours are variable but typical week would cater for:

  • Monday to Thursday – 9.00am to 5.00pm and 6.00pm to 9.30pm
  • Friday – 9.00am to 5.00pm
  • Saturday – 5.30pm to 8.30pm
  • Hours may be extended to accommodate one-off social functions including birthday parties, dances, exhibitions and other fund-raising events.

Disabled Access

The building is accessible for wheelchair users and there are two disabled toilet facilities.

Facilities

Ashgrove offers a number of facilities, which cater for community groups, preschool activities and individual needs including a Preschool activity room, meeting rooms, large hall and children’s playground.

Staff can provide assistance for groups to include:

  • Establishing and developing community groups and constitutions
  • Strategic planning
  • Grant Aid applications

AVENUE ROAD COMMUNITY CENTRE

The centre caters for all ages and has a great range of activities to sign up to.  It is available for birthday parties, meetings, AGM’s, and workshops. We have disability access and look forward to seeing some new faces, so why not call in and join the fun or book the centre for any events you may be organising.

A popular Community Centre in the Brownstown estate, the centre has a large main hall well equipped for football and sporting activities.

Killicomaine Community Centre serves the needs of the local community within the Killicomaine, Seagoe, Ballyhannon and Gilford Road areas of Portadown, Craigavon.

Opening Hours

Killicomaine Community Centre is open during the following times:

Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm and 7.00pm to 10.30pm (variable)

Saturday – 9.30am – 2.00pm

Sunday – 2.00pm – 7.00pm (variable)

Opening hours can be extended to accommodate bookings.

Killicomaine Community Centre is a well-used centre consisting of a large, well-equipped kitchen, Main Hall (large enough for 5-a-side indoor football or other indoor sporting and dance activities) and has a pleasant enclosed Community Garden, which can also be used to suit your needs.

NORTH LURGAN COMMUNITY CENTRE

Situated in the heart of North Lurgan and provides a quality service to all residents in the surrounding area. The Centre is a popular venue for Children’s birthday parties and various social events. The Centre also offers Kitchen facilities, play area, disabled access and extensive car parking.

A partnership with North Lurgan Community Association and Kiwilke Residents group ensures a full and varied programme of activities is on offer. It is also the base for the North Lurgan Detached youth project, which hosts a wide spectrum of events and an annual local Community Fun Day.

THE WATSON CENTRE

The Watson Centre is situated on the Killicomaine Road, Portadown, close to Portadown College. A small, homely centre used by various groups requiring a compact venue.

 

Opening Hours

Craigavon Borough Council will open this centre as and when required to serve the needs of the local community and bookings we receive. The Watson Centre can be booked from Monday – Sunday, from 9.00am – 11.00pm.

Facilities

The Watson Centre has a medium sized Main Hall (suited to workshops and small group work/ public information events), a small room (suited to committee meetings/ education classes) and a good-sized well-equipped kitchen.

  • Maths Tuition –  Wednesday 5.00pm – 8.00pm
  • Over 60’s Social Centre – Thursday 10.30am – 1.30pm

The Watson Centre can be used for Public Meetings/ AGM’s for local community groups, fundraising events, private dance practise and workshops.
