Community Dev

kidsThe Community Development Section provides support to local communities to help them bring about change at a local level and works in partnership with other statutory agencies to assist in this process. Communities therefore become more active and organised, informed, influential and sustainable.

The Community Development Section which includes Community Resources consists of a wide range of services - principally 11 community facilities, 2 town halls staffed by a team of centre managers, centre assistants and play leaders. The Section also consists of 4 Community Development Officers for Brownlow, Lurgan, Portadown and rural areas as well as Officers responsible for Good Relations and Community Safety in the Borough. Through this team, direct grant aid is provided to local voluntary and community groups including advice services as well as advice and support on a number of issues which affect local communities in the Borough.
