Embracing Leadership for Sustainable Change

Craigavon Borough Council is the first in NI to adopt the “Leadership for Sustainable Change” model.  This pioneering model requires strong leadership and collaborative working to generate ideas and solutions to engage effectively with local communities.

The model has been developed between US firm Emerald Consulting, Netherlands based Stichting Oikos and local company TIDES training.

Council’s Development Department recently welcomed the group to introduce strategic and collaborative ways of tackling key community issues and bring about sustainable change.

Iris and Keith Archuleta, Jaap van der Sar and Colin Craig delivered training to Officers develop mechanisms to bring about sustainable change including understanding root causes, analyzing issues such as engagement  with groups or different use of space as well as developing leadership skills.

The model and training has provided Officers with some excellent advice and guidance on how to work more collaboratively and develop a shared vision.

The initiative receives financial support from OFMDFM.

Iris and Keith were previously in the Borough at a event showcasing their  ground breaking youth model Entitled ‘Building High Performing Communities’ which aimed to improve the lives of teenagers by tackling truancy from school and student disengagement in Antioch, California.

Irish and Ulster Scots Voicemail Service

The Council now provides an Irish and Ulster Scots voicemail service for any member of the public who wishes to ring using these languages. Simply ring the Council and ask to be put through to the service.  You will then hear a voicemail message in that language and be asked to leave your message.  We will then have your message translated and a response sent.
