All dogs collected by the Council's Dog Warden can now be viewed on-line by browsing through the photographs below.
If you see a dog you recognise or would like to rehome, note the identification number and dog's details and contact Council’s dog kennels on 07825 587778 where staff will be happy to assist:-

You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The Dog Warden will then be aware that you have lost your dog and you wish for him to keep you in mind when he picks up a stray.
Council's Dog Warden collects many unwanted and stray dogs on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the number of dogs being reclaimed by their owners or re-homed has decreased thereby increasing the number being humanely destroyed. This year, it is hoped that the number of dogs collected by the Dog Warden will decrease as well as the number of healthy dogs being humanely destroyed.
Northern Ireland has an on-going problem with stray dogs and the only way to decrease the number of stray and unwanted dogs ending up on the streets is through education. Craigavon Borough Council actively promotes responsible dog ownership and provides educational shows in schools within the Borough area. The Licensing section works in partnership with The Dogs Trust to increase the number of dogs that can be easily identified through micro-chipping and also to increase the number of dogs and bitches in our area that have been neutered or spayed which helps reduce the number of unwanted puppies in our area.
- If you are thinking of getting a dog you should consider getting a dog from the dog pound or a charity shelter.
- You should also consider the amount of care and attention that your new dog is going to need.
- Will you be able to walk your dog twice a day to keep it fit and healthy?
- Will you have enough money to feed your dog and provide any veterinary treatment it might need?
- Will you have enough time to spend with your dog? If your dog is left alone all day he might bark / rip up furniture / dig up your garden.
- Do you have the patience to care for your dog and train it in basic obedience?

Current Stray Dogs
The following dogs are at present in Hilltop Kennels, 16 Coharra Road, Portadown and will remain there until date stated, unless reclaimed by their owners.
If you wish to purchase any dog(s) (cost £10), you must contact the Council Pound at the above address.
A Dog Licence (£5) must be applied and paid for before a dog can be rehomed. This can be done at the pound.
If you are reclaiming a dog, the fee is £6.50 per day or part thereof, additionally if you do not have a licence, this will also have to be applied & paid (£5) for before the dog can leave the kennels.
