The Council is dedicated to reuniting owners with their dogs and re-homing unwanted dogs.
In an attempt to re home as many dogs as possible and to work with re-homing charities the following procedure has been agreed with all those involved.
After 6 days the kennel owner (John Breen) may state that he is willing to hold on to the dogs at his own expense (and providing he has the space to do so), for re-homing to members of the public or to an approved re-homing charity.
Kennel owner must sign for the dog in the Dog Warden’s book. We will continue to display the dog on our web page to assist in re-homing the dog.
If a member of the public wishes to purchase one of these dogs then the Council procedure for the purchase of a dog from the kennels applies with all money going to the Council.
If the kennel owner feels that he can no longer keep a dog then either:
- one of the approved animal charities may take the dog for re-homing. In order to
- do this an authorised worker must sign the Dog Warden’s book on behalf of said
- charity and must remove the dog from the premises at the same time.
- as a last resort the Dog Warden will remove the dog for euthanasia
For re-homing charities to be approved they must submit to this office the following
details:
- name and address
- charity number
- constitution
- name of who they authorise to sign and collect dogs on their behalf
- monthly statistics of dogs received into their care must be sent to the dog warden.
