Our service
Recreation Development covers a wide range of activities with the aim of getting more people to become more active using their outdoor environment, by providing a wide variety of accessible high quality outdoor leisure opportunities for people who live and work in the Borough, and also visitors to the area.
What we do:
The Recreation Development Unit works in partnership with a range of bodies to maintain existing and develop new infrastructure and participation initiatives. We also help to co-ordinate the strategic development of outdoor recreation and access to the countryside across the Craigavon area through the facilitation of an Outdoor Recreation Forum.

Cycling For Health:
Craigavon Borough Council works in partnership with Southern Health and Social Care Trust – promoting wellbeing team, to deliver the ‘Cycling for Health’ programme within the Craigavon area through the provision of led cycles and co-ordination of cycle leader training for local community and voluntary organisations.
Walking For Health:
Craigavon Borough Council works in partnership with Southern Health and Social Care Trust – promoting wellbeing team, to deliver the ‘Walking for Health’ programme within the Craigavon area through the provision of walk leader training for local community and voluntary organisaitons.
