Craigavon Borough Council has six main departments, having responsibility for a number of services.

Chief Executive Department
The Chief Executive provides advice and support to Council Committees and Members, reporting to the Policy & Resources Committee. Ultimately responsible for the effective delivery of all services provided by the Council, including the staff is responsible for the planning, organisation and day to day management of Council services and amenities.

Leisure Services

This includes Indoor and outdoor recreation, Parks and open spaces, Sports development, Recreation development, Arts development and Conservation and Museum service.
Leisure services reports to the Leisure Services Committee.

Environmental Services

This includes environmental health, technical services, energy conservation, health and safety, sustainability/local agenda 21, public services liaison. Reports to the environmental services committee.

Development
The Council seeks to be the lead player at the "hub of the wheel" of the local development process. Key services include Economic Development, community services and development, tourism development, borough marketing, community relations, local partnerships, borough vision, area plan, community safety, new initiatives. Reports to the development committee.

Building Control

The Building Control Department administers the Building Regulations in order to secure the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in the built environment and to conserve fuel and power. This service includes pre-application consultancy, advice plan checking, inspection of works in progress, regularisation of previously unauthorised works and the professional certification of completed works. Reports to environmental services committee. Southern Group - co-ordinating and monitoring the Building Control Service within the Group and between the other four groups.

Corporate Services
Services include financial services, Civic & Conference Centre management, land and property matters, registration of Births deaths and marriages, Corporate Special Projects, Communications, and information technology.

This department also provides support to all Council departments and includes the preparation of annual estimates of expenditure, preparation of the annual abstract of accounts, payroll services, payments to creditors, provision of office services, information technology and management of the Civic & Conference Centre and Human Resources.
