Craigavon Borough Council is urging all local residents with healthy lungs and big hearts to put their best foot forward for charity and sign up to take part in a Sport Relief run being held in Lurgan Park on Sunday 21st March 2010.

Sport Relief is a high profile charity event organised by Comic Relief which uses everything that’s good about sport to change lives for the better, giving you the chance to get active, have fun and help turn someone’s life around while you are at it. All the money raised is spent by Comic Relief to help vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives both in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries.

Seasoned runners and novices alike throughout the Borough and beyond can sign up to run either 1 mile, 3 miles or 6 miles - all you need to do is decide which one best suits you.  The event kicks off at 2.00pm on 21st March so get your running shoes at the ready!

Chair of the Leisure Services Committee, Councillor Mary McAlinden, comments; “This is the second time Lurgan Park has hosted this exciting event and we hope to see residents, both young and old, from across the Borough taking part, getting sponsored and raising money for this worthy cause.  Taking part in the run is also a great way to keep fit and have fun with family and friends.”

Throughout the afternoon, children can also enjoy face painting, bouncy castles, penalty shoot outs, balloon modelling and disco music.

To take part in any of the Sport Relief races you must register before the event. You can do this online at www.sportrelief.com. Registration fees will apply.

When you enter you will receive a fundraising kit containing a variety of information including a sponsorship form, fundraising ideas, posters and information on sport relief.
