Armagh Coats of ArmsThe Councillors

Elected through Local Government elections every four years, Councillors decide the order of priorities for services, balancing the needs of the local community with the actual cost of providing these services.

Council holds an Annual Meeting in June each year, at which a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor are elected and the membership of Council's Committees is decided.

Full Council meets twice per month, on the first and third Monday at 6:00pm, at the Civic Centre. These meetings are open to the Public except for when confidential matters are discussed.

There are a total of 26 Councillors, each representing particular areas, or electoral wards within the Borough.

Councillor Mrs Meta Crozier is Mayor of Craigavon Council and as such is an ex-officio member of all Committees. She is also a member of the Estimates Working Group. She represents Council on a number of outside bodies including;- Craigavon Arts in Motion, Craigavon Museum Committee, Craigavon Sports Advisory Council (substitute), Lurgan Forward, TASSK Ltd - Board of Directors and the Ulster Canal Steering Group.

Councillor Dr Weir is Deputy Mayor of Craigavon and as such is an ex-officio member of all Committees. In addition, he is the Chairman of the Audit Committee.  He also represents Council on a number of outside bodies including Craigavon Community Safety Partnership, Craigavon Cycling Forum, Craigavon District Policing Partnership, Craigavon Industrial Development Organisation - Director, Lagan Canal Trust Steering Group, the National Association of Councillors (NI) Region, the Southern Education and Library Board and the Southern Group Committee (Environmental Health).
